What is Alumni Chapters United?

Alumni Chapters United is a nationwide movement uniting UOPX alumni to serve their local communities. Throughout August, chapters across the country are hosting volunteer events. Whether cleaning a park, mentoring youth, or stocking a food bank, you’re part of a powerful movement. One Month. One Mission. One Million Strong.

Let’s pack for possibility – and power a smart start for local students!

The UOPX St. Louis Alumni Chapter invites you to Smart Start: A Packing for Possibility Social, for a meaningful morning of giving back. Together, we’ll fill backpacks with essential school supplies and help students from the East St. Louis area who need a little extra support heading into the school year.

This is a feel-good, hands-on way to give back to your community while connecting with fellow alumni and local leaders. Whether you're packing, organizing, or leading the games/activities station, your presence makes a difference.

What to Expect

  • Join fellow alumni to assemble and distribute school supplies and bookbags for local students in need.

  • Engage in a meaningful volunteer experience that directly supports students in the East St. Louis area.

  • Food, snacks and refreshments will be provided for volunteers.

  • Opportunities to connect, collaborate, and make a lasting impact.

Strike Up Support: The DMV Chapter’s Bowling for Backpacks Benefit

Bowl for fun. Give for good. Help students start the school year strong - for FREE with fellow UOPX alum and guests!

The DMV Alumni Chapter invites you to our Bowling for Backpacks Benefit to support our annual Pack to School initiative - a school supply drive benefiting children and teens in under-resourced communities within the DMV area. We encourage you to bring school supply donations, making a difference in local students' lives this upcoming school year.

Bring any of the following to donate:

  • Backpacks
  • Notebooks & folders
  • Pens, pencils, markers
  • Crayons, glue sticks, scissors
  • Rulers, erasers, and more!

Your donation is a brighter start to the school year for students who need it most.

Join your Ohio Alumni Chapter for a morning of volunteering, connection and community care. At Serve & Savor: Ohio Chapter’s Fuel the Community Event, we’re teaming up at the Freestore Foodbank Distribution Center to pack food boxes that support local seniors, veterans, and school children in need. You’ll lend a hand, make a real difference, and connect with alumni – all before noon.Ìý

After the volunteer shift, you’re invited to keep the good vibes going over an optional, FREE brunch at a nearby restaurant, totally covered by the chapter. Think of it as a Phoenix-style thank-you for a job well done.Ìý

What to Wear

To keep things safe and comfortable in the distribution center, please follow the dress code provided:Ìý

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required; tennis shoes are ok. No flip-flops or sandals.ÌýÌý

Phoenix Hands United for NC Hearts

Through compassion, unity, and action, the ÆßÉ«ÊÓÆµ Charlotte NC Alumni Chapter joins forces to support the Diaper Bank of North Carolina—providing essential care with dignity, one package at a time.

We’re looking for a few passionate, compassionate alumni to volunteer at this special event designed to bring joy, confidence, and connection to the residents of Mercy House.

2.ÌýCreative ExpressionÌý– Assist residents in a fun and expressive hat-making activity, followed by a joyful hat show.

Every task matters, and every set of hands brings hope.

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required; tennis shoes are ok. No flip-flops or sandals.

Join your Alabama Alumni Chapter for Pack with Purpose: Feed the City – Huntsville, a hands-on morning of volunteering where every sack lunch you pack becomes a small act of hope for someone in need.

You’ll team up with fellow alumni, family, and friends to prepare lunches for distribution to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and after-school programs across the Huntsville area. This is your moment to show up, step up, and make a real difference in our community! Together, we can feed Huntsville forward and create a lasting impact, one lunch at a time.

What to Wear

Join your Washington State Chapter for a powerful afternoon of food, networking, and giving back to local students in need at Spanaway and Tacoma School Districts. At Backpacks for Bright Futures: The Washington State Chapter’s Back-to-School Bash, you’ll enjoy delicious food, build connections, and work together to pack 100 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, helping students start the school year prepared.

What to Bring

No need to bring school supplies. (ÆßÉ«ÊÓÆµ provided them.)

However, we are collecting non-perishable food donations. Anyone who brings a food donation will receive raffle tickets in exchange for in-kind donations for fun giveaways. While donations are encouraged, they are not required. Your helping hands are already a huge contribution!

Join the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter for a heartwarming back-to-school celebration, LIT on the Lawn, in partnership with Ebri Education and The Vibrant Places Collective. At Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park, we’re inviting families to relax under the sun with their favorite books, enjoy live readings from local children’s authors, and explore fun, interactive literacy stations led by UOPX alumni volunteers.

Event Highlights

As an alumni volunteer, supporting everything from welcoming families and assisting local authors to snack distribution and guiding guests, you’ll be at the heart of the event, ensuring the success of:

  • DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) moments with calming music
  • Local author spotlights sharing live on stage
  • Hands-on literacy activities and take-home resources
  • A bring-your-own-book picnic complete with snacks, umbrellas, and community joy

Join the Alabama Alumni Chapter for Pantry Pledge: The Shelf-Care Giveback, a hands-on volunteer experience where UOPX alumni and guests unite to support neighbors facing food insecurity. At UAB Blazer Kitchen, we’ll stock shelves, organize goods, assist pantry guests, and brighten the space with care and purpose – making every shelf, smile, and small act count.

What to Wear

To keep things safe and comfortable in the Food Pantry, please follow the dress code provided:

  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required; tennis shoes or boots are ok. No flip-flops or sandals.
  • Shirts must have sleeves; T-shirts and short-sleeved shirts are perfectly fine.
  • Jeans or shorts are acceptable.

+ To enter, ring the doorbell and/or knock on the back door, informing them you are with ÆßÉ«ÊÓÆµ.
